Made-to-measure windows: manufactured to the millimetre for your building, not the other way round
In Belgium, almost no opening is square: an old structure shifts, settles, never has two identical angles. Made to measure is not a luxury, it is the norm. Every window is drawn after a precise survey and manufactured to your exact dimensions — straight, curved or the most complex shapes.
- 100% to your dimensions
- no standard imposed
- All shapes
- straight, curved, trapezoid
- 4 to 8 weeks
- manufacturing lead time
What "made to measure" really means
Made to measure is not just about choosing a width. It is a whole process, from the measurement to the fitting. The concrete benchmarks, without jargon.
- Millimetre survey Exact dimensions
A technician measures each opening on site: width at the top, in the middle, at the bottom, levels, squareness, wall thickness. As an old structure is never perfectly straight, this survey determines everything that follows.
- Special shapes To plan
Full arch, basket handle, bullseye, triangle or trapezoid for attics: made-to-measure manufacturing allows shapes that the standard ignores. We draw the window from the real survey of the bay.
- Large dimensions Beyond standard
Beyond catalogue sizes, made to measure handles very large bays and unusual heights, with reinforcements and material adapted to the span — where a standard window can no longer keep up.
- Finishes & options À la carte
Glazing bars, astragals (integrated in the glazing or applied), handles, distinct interior and exterior colours, thresholds: every detail is chosen to fit the style of the façade and the existing build.
- Special glazing Case by case
Double or triple glazing, but also reinforced acoustic, solar control, anti-break-in or frosted for privacy: the glazing is composed opening by opening according to orientation and use.
- Guaranteed fitting Made to measure
A window manufactured to your dimensions is fitted to the millimetre: careful air and water tightness, sealing, interior finishes. Fitting by our teams is covered by our guarantee.
* Made to measure applies to every material (PVC, aluminium, wood). The exact lead times and possibilities depend on the chosen material and the complexity of the shapes — confirmed at the site survey.
Pros & cons of made to measure
Made to measure is the norm in renovation, but it has its trade-offs. Here, honestly, is what it brings and what you should anticipate.
Where it stands out
- Adapts to the real buildingNo reworking of the wall: the window hugs an opening that is never square.
- All shapes possibleCurved, bullseye, attic triangle: nothing is ruled out.
- À la carte finishesGlazing bars, astragals, colours and glazing chosen opening by opening.
- Optimal sealingManufactured to exact dimensions, the window wedges and seals perfectly.
What you should know
- Manufacturing lead timeAllow 4 to 8 weeks: each window is produced after your order, not from stock.
- No returns possibleManufactured to your dimensions, a made-to-measure window cannot be taken back or resold.
- Survey is decisiveA measurement error is costly: better a professional than a self-measurement.
- Complex shapes are dearerA curve or a trapezoid costs more than a rectangular window of equal surface.
When is made to measure the obvious choice?
In reality, almost all the time in Belgian renovation. A few cases where it is downright indispensable:
-
Renovation of old buildings
Pre-war houses, cottages, apartment blocks: the openings have shifted and are never square. Made to measure makes up for these gaps without touching the masonry.
-
Special shapes & character
Full arch, basket handle, round bullseye, triangle or attic trapezoid: only made-to-measure manufacturing restores these shapes specific to heritage buildings.
-
Large dimensions
Off-catalogue bays, unusual heights, paired openings: when the standard no longer suffices, made to measure sizes the window for the required span.
Made to measure is available in every material. For the best insulation-to-price ratio, look at the PVC window; for slim lines and large bays, aluminium.

Restoring an original full-arch window in a high-performance version

Your questions about made to measure
Why are almost all windows made to measure in Belgium? +
Because the existing building is almost never square. An old wall has shifted, settled, and two neighbouring openings rarely have the same dimensions. A standard window would leave gaps to fill; made to measure is manufactured to the real surveyed dimensions, for a clean, watertight fitting.
Is the survey chargeable? +
No, the survey is free and with no obligation. A technician comes out, measures each opening to the millimetre (top/middle/bottom widths, levels, squareness, wall thickness) and takes the opportunity to advise on the material, glazing and finishes suited to your project.
Can you manufacture curved shapes or bullseye windows? +
Yes. The full arch, the basket handle, the round bullseye, the triangle and the trapezoid for attics are among the common shapes in made to measure. We draw the window from the exact survey of the bay to restore the original shape, glazing bars included if needed.
What is the lead time between order and fitting? +
Allow 4 to 8 weeks in general depending on the material and the complexity of the shapes. As each window is manufactured after your order, to your dimensions, there is no ready-to-fit stock. The exact lead time is confirmed when the quote is signed.
Can I choose glazing bars and astragals? +
Yes, à la carte. Astragals can be integrated between the panes (maintenance-free), bonded to the glazing or structural. It is one of the great advantages of made to measure: restoring the layout of old windows or personalising the style of the façade.
Does made to measure qualify for grants and the 6% VAT rate? +
Yes, exactly like a standard window: the support depends on the performance achieved (the Uw coefficient), not on the fact that the window is made to measure. A high-performance window qualifies, depending on your region and income, for a renovation grant and the 6% VAT rate for homes over ten years old. We handle the paperwork for you.
