Windows + insulation: the duo that changes everything

Replacing your windows without insulating the roof means heating half the house for nothing. Planned together, these two jobs multiply your savings — and a single quote is all it takes.

Windows ↔ Insulation Windows + insulation: the duo that changes everything

Everything to know before replacing your windows

The window is the centrepiece of comfort in a Belgian home. It lets the light in, shuts out street noise and keeps the warmth inside during winter. In an older property, tired windows can on their own account for a large share of heat loss: single glazing, cracked seals and warped frames let the cold and damp in.

Replacing your windows is first and foremost about regaining a healthy, quiet and temperate interior — the savings follow naturally afterwards.

PVC, aluminium or wood-alu: how to choose?

There is no "best" material in absolute terms, only the one that suits your home and your budget. Each has its own logic:

Glazing accounts for most of the performance

People often talk about the frame, but it is mainly the glazing that determines insulation. High-efficiency double glazing is the minimum today, and triple glazing becomes worthwhile as soon as you aim for an ambitious renovation or a north-facing façade.

~70%

of a window’s thermal performance comes down to the glazing, not the frame. The Ug value measures it: the lower it is, the better.

A wendows advisor helps you weigh up comfort, budget and orientation — without needless jargon, as befits our one stop shop approach.

Comfort, quiet and security

Beyond the figures, new windows transform daily life: no more cold surface you would rather not sit beside, a real gain in quiet near busy roads, and stronger security thanks to laminated glazing and multi-point hardware. Paired with shutters or screens, they also keep summer overheating in check — a subject that matters more and more, even at our latitudes.

Grants, VAT and budget

Replacing your windows entitles you, in most cases, to a renovation grant whose amount depends on the region and your income, as well as the reduced 6% VAT rate for homes over ten years old.

We advance the paperwork, not you the cash

We handle the entire administrative file and, where possible, deduct the grant straight from your bill. An overview of the support available by region in our grants & support section.

And after the fitting?

A well-fitted window is airtight and watertight, aligned to the millimetre, and finished cleanly inside and out. That is why our teams handle the fitting themselves rather than delegating it.

If you are renovating in stages, the smart move is often to tackle the insulation of your home right afterwards, or just before: the two jobs complement each other and avoid having to return to the façade twice. Living in a major city? Our pages on windows in Brussels, in Liège or in your municipality spell out lead times and local references.

Window FAQ

Your questions about windows

PVC, aluminium or wood-alu: which to choose? +

PVC offers the best insulation-to-price ratio and suits the majority of homes. Aluminium is ideal for large glazed surfaces and a clean style. Wood-alu targets the durable premium segment. During the survey, we guide you according to your façade, your budget and the look you want.

Do I need double or triple glazing? +

High-efficiency double glazing is the standard today. Triple glazing is justified for an ambitious renovation, a north-facing façade or a low-consumption goal. We compare the Ug values and the extra cost to decide together on the best compromise.

What grants exist for windows? +

Depending on your region and your income, replacing windows can entitle you to a renovation grant, sometimes up to 35% of the cost of the works, as well as the reduced 6% VAT rate for homes over ten years old. We build the file and deduct the grant where possible.

How long does the fitting take? +

For a typical house, replacing the windows generally takes one to three days depending on the number of openings. We work cleanly, protect your interior and complete the finishing the same day.

Do I need a permit to replace my windows? +

For a like-for-like replacement (same dimensions and layout), no permit is generally required. A declaration may be needed if you change the appearance, enlarge a bay or are in a protected area. We tell you the steps to follow depending on your municipality.

What warranty applies to the windows and the fitting? +

You benefit from the manufacturer’s warranty on the profiles and glazing, as well as our warranty on the fitting. Our after-sales service is based in Belgium: a single point of contact, from quote to the smallest later adjustment.
