Battery + panels: produce by day, consume in the evening
Without panels, a battery has little energy to store; without a battery, your surplus goes to the grid at a low price. Together, they push up your self-consumption — and a single quote is all it takes.

Everything to know before installing a battery
Installing a battery means keeping the electricity you produce for yourself, instead of feeding it back to the grid at a low price. On a Belgian home with panels, the afternoon surplus powers the evening and the night — and with a backup function, the home stays powered even during an outage. But good storage isn’t something you improvise: it all comes down to sizing and to the share of energy you can actually consume yourself.
“The goal is no longer to sell back to the grid, but to consume as much as possible of what you produce — and the battery is what makes that possible in the evening.
Size it right, rather than going too big
The right capacity isn’t the biggest one possible, but the one that matches your evening consumption and your solar production. Too small, it empties too fast; too big, it stays half full and costs a lot for nothing. Here are the options depending on your profile :
- Lithium LiFePO4 The standard
Stable, safe chemistry, thousands of cycles. The reference technology today.

Store your daytime surplus for the evening. Ideal under the prosumer tariff.

Keep power on your essential circuits even when the grid goes down.

The hybrid inverter, the brain of the system
People often focus on the battery, but it’s the hybrid inverter that orchestrates everything: it decides when to charge, when to discharge and when to draw from the grid. It’s also what makes backup possible. A new hybrid inverter or adding an AC battery to your existing installation: the choice depends on your current hardware. We’ll explain the concrete impact on your independence.
self-consumption achievable by pairing a well-sized battery with your panels and smart control. The more of your own energy you consume, the more the installation pays off.
A wendows advisor helps you weigh capacity, backup and budget — without needless jargon, just as our one stop shop approach intends.
Battery alone or paired with solar?
A battery truly comes into its own when it’s fed by your own panels. The battery + solar pairing lets you use in the evening the electricity produced in the afternoon, instead of feeding it back at a low price. If you don’t have panels yet, we study both together ; if you already do, we check the best-suited home battery.
Grants, VAT and return on investment
Residential installation benefits from the reduced 6% VAT for homes over ten years old, and depending on your region additional grants may apply. The return on investment depends mainly on your self-consumption and on the gap between the buying and selling price of electricity.
Connection, declaration and tax benefits: we take care of the file. An overview of grants by region in our grants & subsidies section.
And after the installation?
A well-installed battery is cleanly integrated into your panel, connected to code and controlled by an app that shows you charge and discharge day to day. Our after-sales service stays reachable over time for the smallest adjustment, and the warranty covers capacity over the long term.
If you don’t have production yet, storage pairs perfectly with solar panels: you fill the battery with your own energy. Living in a big city ? Our battery in Brussels, in Liège or in your municipality pages detail local grants and references.

Your questions about storage
Is a battery worth it in 2026? +
It depends on your consumption profile. With the end of the net metering and the prosumer tariff, storing your surplus to consume it yourself is becoming worthwhile — that’s where the savings are made. A well-sized battery, paired with panels, pays for itself over its lifetime. We show you the maths, without exaggerated promises.
What capacity do I need? +
It all depends on your evening and night consumption, and on your panels’ production. For an average Belgian household, a 5 to 10 kWh battery covers a good share of the needs outside daylight hours. During the study, we start from your bills and your load curve to size it as accurately as possible.
Can I add a battery to an existing installation? +
Yes, in most cases. Depending on your current inverter, we either add an AC-compatible battery, or switch to a hybrid inverter that manages panels and storage. We check your existing hardware before proposing the simplest and least costly solution.
Does it keep power during an outage? +
Only if it’s equipped with a backup function. A standard battery shuts down safely when the grid goes down; with the backup option and a suitable inverter, it powers your essential circuits for the duration of the outage. We always specify this point in the quote, as it changes the choice of hardware.
What lifespan and what warranty? +
Lithium LiFePO4 batteries are rated for several thousand cycles, generally 10 years or more of daily use. Manufacturers offer a warranty on the remaining capacity after that period. Our after-sales service is based in Belgium: a single point of contact over time.
Physical battery or virtual battery? +
A physical battery actually stores your electricity at home and makes you independent, including backup. A virtual battery is a contract that values the surplus you feed back to the grid, with no hardware and no real independence. The two approaches are different: we explain which one fits your situation.
