The criteria that change your grants
The grant amount isn’t fixed: it depends on several parameters that we check systematically to maximise your file.
- Household income
Most grants are modulated across three income brackets. Low or middle-income households generally benefit from the highest amounts.
- Heating replaced
Replacing a fossil generator (oil, gas, coal) is required for the maximum grants. Some regions require a decommissioning certificate.
- Heat pump technology chosen
Air-to-water, geothermal or air-to-air: each technology has its own grant schedule. The air-to-water heat pump and geothermal are the best supported. A COP ≥ 3.5 is often required.

What grants are available for a heat pump in Belgium in 2026?
In Belgium, the grants depend on your region. In Wallonia, the Prime Habitation can reach 4 000 € for an air-to-water heat pump and 6 000 € for geothermal. In Brussels, the Renolution grant goes up to 4 500 €. In Flanders, the Mijn VerbouwPremie covers up to 3 500 €. In every region, VAT is reduced to 6 % for homes older than 10 years.
Does 6 % VAT apply automatically to a heat pump?
No. The 6 % VAT applies to renovation of a home older than 10 years. It must be explicitly stated on the order form or the invoice. wendows checks your home’s eligibility and applies the reduced rate directly on the quote.
Can regional grants and 6 % VAT be combined?
Yes. The reduced VAT and regional grants can be combined. On a 12 000 € air-to-water heat pump, the VAT saving is around 1 800 €. Added to a regional grant of 3 000 €, the net cost can drop below 7 200 €.
Do you have to pay the grant amount upfront?

Are the grants available if I already have a gas boiler?
Yes. Replacing a gas boiler qualifies for heat pump grants in all three Belgian regions, generally at the same amounts as for oil. The decommissioning of the old boiler must be certified by an accredited company — we take care of that.
Is a home audit mandatory to obtain heat pump grants?
In Wallonia, a prior home audit is required for certain increased amounts of the Prime Habitation. In Brussels and Flanders, it is not systematically required. At the quote stage, we check whether an audit is needed for your situation and point you to an accredited auditor.
