What determines your right to the Wallonia grant
The grant is not automatic: four main conditions determine the final amount and the eligibility of the file.
- Replacing a fossil-fuel heating system
The grant is reserved for replacing an oil, gas or coal boiler or an electric convector. A new installation in a home with no existing central heating is not eligible.
- Minimum COP by heat pump type
An air-to-water heat pump must reach a COP ≥ 3,5 (A+ label or higher). For geothermal, the minimum COP is 4,0. The energy label appears on the manufacturer datasheet and must be attached to the file.
- Qualiwatt-accredited installer
The installation must be carried out by a Qualiwatt-certified installer (or a recognised equivalent). The invoice must state the accreditation number and the detail of the works for the file to be admissible.
- Housing audit for the highest amounts
To benefit from the highest amounts, a prior energy audit may be required. This audit also helps identify other eligible works and obtain a more attractive overall grant.

Your questions about the heat pump grant in Wallonia
What is the maximum heat pump grant in Wallonia in 2026?
The maximum amount is 6,000 € for a geothermal heat pump installed by a low-income household. For an air-to-water heat pump, the maximum amount is 4,000 €. These amounts apply to replacing fossil-fuel heating and are subject to the technical conditions of the 2026 scale.
Can the Wallonia grant be combined with the 6% VAT?
Yes, the Wallonia Prime Habitation can be combined with the reduced 6% VAT rate for renovation work in a home over 10 years old. These two benefits apply independently and can be combined to significantly reduce the total cost.
Do I need an energy audit to obtain the grant?
An energy audit is required for certain high amounts or as part of an overall renovation programme. For a standalone heat pump installation, the audit is not systematically mandatory, but it can give access to additional support. We check this during the quote.
What is the Qualiwatt accreditation and is it mandatory?
Qualiwatt is the Walloon certification label for installers of renewable and thermal energy systems. It is mandatory for the works to be eligible for the Prime Habitation. All our partner installers hold this accreditation and state their number on the invoice.
How is the income category for the grant determined?
The income category (low, middle, high) is determined on the basis of the household reference taxable income, according to the scales published annually by the Public Service of Wallonia. The thresholds are indexed every year. We help you identify your category during the quote.
How long does it take to receive the Wallonia grant?
The processing time by the Public Service of Wallonia is generally 4 to 8 weeks after submission of the complete file. At wendows, we deduct the grant directly from your invoice: you do not wait for the refund and do not advance the funds.
