There is no single way to fit a window frame: the right method depends on your wall, the old frame and the insulation. We choose the technique that guarantees tightness and performance, not the fastest one.
The new window frame is fixed onto the existing frame, which is kept, without touching the masonry. Fast and clean work, ideal when the original structure is sound — we treat the joints to avoid any thermal bridge.
The frame is fitted against the inner wall, in front of the masonry, in the plane of the insulation. The reference method in new builds and major renovations: insulation continuity and optimal tightness.
The frame is set into the thickness of the wall, in the rebate (on an existing reveal) or in tunnel (flush with the wall). We adapt the shimming and joints to the exact configuration of the opening.
Controlled expanding foam, compression tape (BG1) on the outside, membranes and flexible seals: air and water tightness is treated around the whole perimeter, not just on the surface.

The fitting itself is fast: most of a home’s window frames are fitted in one day, sometimes two for a large job or a full removal. The measuring and made-to-measure manufacture beforehand take a few weeks depending on the material and finish chosen.
We handle the basic joints and finishes — sealing, beading, plaster repair around the frame — to hand back a finished opening. A major renovation (new stone sills, full repainting of the room) may require an extra we price separately at the survey.
Yes. Removal of the old frame, protection of floors and surrounds, as well as disposal and sorting of waste are included in the fitting service. You get a clean room back, with no job to finish yourself.
The fitting is guaranteed on top of the manufacturer’s warranty on the frame. Air & water tightness and the soundness of the work are our responsibility as fitters: if a fitting defect appears, we step in. Our installations follow good practice (the sector’s technical guidance notes).
