In tilt mode, the sash tips at the top by ~10 cm: continuous ventilation, rain kept out, child safety assured. In turn mode, it swings 90° for fresh air or cleaning the panes.
Multi-point hardware compresses the gasket around the entire sash perimeter. The result: watertightness and windtightness superior to a slider or a side-hung casement.
Thanks to gasket compression, the tilt-and-turn is the most thermally sealed type of opening. With good glazing, the whole unit drops very low.
The reinforced sealing also benefits acoustics. With asymmetric acoustic glazing, the reduction reaches 40 to 45 dB.
The hardware prevents simultaneous tilt + turn opening. In tilt position, the opening is too narrow for an intrusion.
