Insulation grants 2026 in Belgium — Wallonia & Brussels
The 2026 insulation grants can cover up to 70 €/m² for the roof in Wallonia, and up to 50 €/m² under Renolution in Brussels. Amounts by zone, eligibility conditions and the full procedure: we explain everything and handle the paperwork.
Indicative 2026 amounts, subject to income and R-value conditions.
Insulation grant amounts by zone and region
Indicative 2026 amounts for median income categories. Low-income households benefit from multiplier coefficients. The required minimum R-values are shown as eligibility conditions.
| Insulated zone | Wallonia Prime Habitation insulation | Brussels Renolution insulation | Conditions minimum R-value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roofnon-converted or converted attics | 20 – 70 €/m² by income | 20 – 50 €/m² cat. A/B/C | R ≥ 4,5 (Wal.) · R ≥ 4,0 (Bxl) |
| Walls / façadeEWI, IWI or cavity injection | 10 – 40 €/m² by income | 10 – 35 €/m² cat. A/B/C | R ≥ 3,5 (Wal.) · R ≥ 2,5 (Bxl) |
| Floor / cellarconcrete slab or timber floor | 7 – 25 €/m² by income | 7 – 20 €/m² cat. A/B/C | R ≥ 3,0 (Wal.) · R ≥ 2,0 (Bxl) |
Indicative amounts incl. VAT. The Renolution A/B/C categories correspond to low, middle and high incomes. In Wallonia, the Prime Habitation is scaled to the cadastral income and the type of work. Request your quote for a precise calculation.
The criteria that make your grant amount vary
At equal surface and zone, two files can lead to very different amounts. Here are the key criteria to know before planning your work.
- Income level
In Wallonia as in Brussels, low-income or precarious households benefit from multiplier coefficients: the grant can double or triple compared with the base rate.
Wallonia grants details → - Insulated zone
The roof is the zone that generates the most grant money in absolute terms, followed by the walls. The floor also opens up support but the unit amounts are lower.
See prices by zone → - R-value achieved
The higher the thermal resistance, the larger the grant amount under certain frameworks. Reaching R ≥ 6 on the roof lets you maximise the Renolution support.
- Year of construction
The home must be over 10 years old for the 6% VAT. For Renolution grants, the building must predate 1996 for certain schemes. Your building age is checked when the file is built.
- Accredited contractor
The grants require a registered contractor (Wallonia) or a Renolution-approved one (Brussels) and a detailed invoice stating the R-values and thicknesses. wendows meets these criteria.
- Prior energy audit
In Wallonia, a prior housing audit is mandatory for certain grant amounts and can significantly increase the support obtained. We work with accredited auditors.

The 2026 insulation grant programmes
Each Belgian region has its own programme. Here are the two main ones for our projects: Wallonia and Brussels-Capital.
Prime Habitation insulation
The Prime Habitation covers reinforcing thermal insulation by zone (roof, walls, floor). The amount is calculated from the cadastral income, the treated surface and the R-value achieved. A prior housing audit is recommended to maximise the amounts.
- Minimum thermal resistance by zone (R ≥ 4,5 roof, R ≥ 3,5 walls, R ≥ 3,0 floor)
- Registered contractor and detailed invoice with R-values and thicknesses
- Prior housing audit recommended (mandatory above a certain amount)
- Combinable with the third-party payer scheme
Renolution — insulation
The Renolution programme run by Brussels Environment subsidises insulation of the roof, walls and floor across three income categories (A = low-income, B = middle, C = high). Category A benefits from the highest amounts.
- Minimum R-value compliant with the Renolution requirements per element
- Home over 10 years old, predating 1996 for certain components
- Renolution-approved contractor (official Brussels Environment list)
- Application submitted within 18 months after the final invoice
We calculate, file and follow up your grant application
Eligibility check, quote net of grant, forms and certificates: you have nothing to handle.
- We check your rights
Region, income, age of the home and zones to insulate: we identify every grant you can claim before the quote is even drawn up.
- We quote net of grant
Your quote shows the estimated grant amount, the 6% VAT applied and the real remaining cost, zone by zone.
- We build the file
Wallonia or Renolution forms, compliant technical certificates, detailed invoices: we handle it all entirely after the works.
- We track the payment
We keep you informed of the steps and payment deadlines. If an administrative question comes up, we respond on your behalf.
Located in Flanders? The Mijn VerbouwPremie also covers insulation — ask us for the details for your municipality.
Estimate your grants in seconds
Choose the zone to insulate and enter the surface to get an indicative grant range. A free quote remains the only way to obtain a precise amount.
Indicative estimate. The actual amount depends on your income, the R-value achieved and the region.
Grants obtained on a concrete project
A real case to make the amounts tangible — your project will be calculated based on your surfaces, your region and your income level.
Indicative example dated 2026, median incomes, Wallonia. Low-income households can obtain up to twice as much. Request your quote for a calculation tailored to your situation.

Your questions about insulation grants 2026
What grants are available for insulation in 2026?
In Wallonia, the Prime Habitation covers the roof, walls and floor, with amounts scaled to your income (up to 70 €/m² for the roof). In Brussels, the Renolution programme offers up to 50 €/m² in category A. In both regions, the reduced 6% VAT applies to homes over 10 years old.
Can insulation grants be combined with other support?
Yes. Insulation grants can be combined by zone (you can obtain a roof grant AND a wall grant in the same file). They also combine with the 6% VAT and, in Wallonia, with the third-party payer scheme that avoids upfront funding.
Do I need an energy audit before applying for the grants?
In Wallonia, a prior housing audit is recommended and mandatory for the highest amounts. It also helps identify every claimable grant. In Brussels, the Renolution audit is strongly recommended to benefit from the full programme. We work with accredited auditors.
What minimum R-value must be reached to obtain the grants?
In Wallonia: R ≥ 4,5 for the roof, R ≥ 3,5 for the walls and R ≥ 3,0 for the floor. In Brussels (Renolution): R ≥ 4,0 for the roof, R ≥ 2,5 for the walls and R ≥ 2,0 for the floor. Our technicians always size the insulation to reach these thresholds.
How long after the works are the grants paid?
In Wallonia, the processing time is generally 2 to 4 months after submission of the complete file. In Brussels, Renolution provides for a similar timeframe. The file must be submitted within 18 months of the final invoice. We handle the follow-up and alert you if additions are requested.
Can wendows build the grant file on our behalf?
Yes, it is included in our service: we check your rights, calculate the estimated amounts, draft compliant technical certificates, submit the forms and follow the file through to payment. You have no administrative steps to take.
Your grants calculated, your file built
We check your rights, quote net of grant and submit the file: you have nothing to handle and you only pay the real remaining cost.
